It seems that every time you turn around there is one fitness expert after another trying to talk you into buying their weight loss supplement or fitness equipment. And the truth of it is, that most of it will work… to a point.

I know, you’ve heard it before but the two main components to getting rid of a fat stomach are diet and exercise. And when I say diet I don’t mean celery and water, I mean the types of foods you eat.
For example, the worst thing you can do for yourself is to deprive your body of what it needs to function properly. If you think you can starve yourself to look better you are not only making it harder for yourself you are also risking causing damage to your body.

Eating a good balance of lean protein, fats and carbs is what it will take. Adding plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and you will melt those pounds away.
Exercise is also so important. You don’t have to go to the gym if you don’t want to. Just going for a walk or a bike ride can be all you need to get in shape. One thing you really should add to your workout routine, though, is weight training.
This element of a workout routine is too often overlooked and it can really short change your efforts. There are two reasons I say that.
For one, weight training will build your body with lean muscle mass. That will help your metabolism burn hotter all the time, it will make you appear to be slimmer since muscle is more compact and denser than fat and it can provide your bones with the strength they need to resist bone fractures.
When you do your weight routine, make sure you get the most out of it by doing it right. Have you ever noticed that most people in the gym will use their whole body to lift a weight? They also tend to go really fast with every rep.
When you do that you aren’t getting the most of out the exercise since you are allowing multiple muscle groups to do the work instead of just targeting the one muscle you’re supposed to be working. You also run the risk of injury if you don’t follow proper form and that is not the best way of getting rid of a fat stomach.
